Be sure to apply for the Michael Rood Transfer Opportunity Scholarship, offered by the New England Region Alumni Association, which can give you $100 to cover the cost of transfer applications!  <a href="http://neptk.org/files/2011/11/2011-Rood-Scholarship-Application.docx">The application is very simple and can be found by clicking here</a>.  All that is needed is a 500-word essay and a letter of recommendation from a chapter adviser.  Those two items, along with the linked form, must be received by <strong>February 20, 2012</strong>.</p>
<p>The scholarship is named for Michael Rood, long-time adviser to the Alpha Lambda Zeta chapter of Asnuntuck Community College.  He is also a member of the Regional Advisory Board and former regional coordinator.  Through his advising within his own chapter and his presentations at regional events, Dr. Rood has helped literally thousands of Phi Theta Kappa members prepare for transfer admission.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img src="http://neptk.org/files/2011/10/blue-ribbon.jpg" class="right" />Each year, the New England Region publishes the <em>Honors Anthology</em>, a collection of the best writing and 2D art by Phi Theta Kappa members in our six states. Writing and art can be on any topic, and there are no minimum or maximum lengths. We especially encourage you to submit papers or 2D art you&#8217;ve already prepared for classes!  Why let your hard work go to waste when you can use it to get published and have another line for your résumé?</p>

<p>In addition, <strong>our conference will be featuring some new special events!</strong>  On Friday night, we are excited to have a special interactive transfer admissions workshop, for both students and advisers, hosted by the New England Transfer Association.  We will also be holding a fun workshop on leadership styles, presented by our very own Alpha Pi Rho chapter from Manchester (NH) Community College.  On Saturday, we&#8217;ll be holding more workshops that ever, all built around great themes to help you and your chapter succeed this year.  As always, we&#8217;ll also be mixing in plenty of fellowship, including a game night and a raffle.</p>
