2008 – 2009 Projects

The 2008 – 2009 Regional Officers decided on two primary goals for their term: Personally reaching out to chapter members, and raising awareness of the region and its programming. They adopted the word “Synergy” as their personal motto and the puzzle piece logo in order to remind everyone in the region that every member is important in putting together the Phi Theta Kappa picture.

Reaching Out & Raising Awareness
The 2008 – 2009 regional officers introduced themselves to chapter members by producing and distributing a biography brochure. The officers streamlined communication by using the regional website as a central communication point instead of using both the website and a separate mailing list. They also produced shorter but more frequent regional newsletters in order to keep members aware of what the region and other chapters were doing. Finally, they oversaw the introduction of the regional forum, which had been long discussed within the region but never realized.

Salute to the Troops
The regional officers decided to encourage chapter members to think outside of themselves throughout the year through their Salute to the Troops Initiative. The purpose of this project was to raise awareness of members serving overseas and also to honor them for their service. A short film tribute to these members was produced and played at both the Regional Leadership Conference and the Regional Convention.
